CONSTRUCTION COMMITTEE -Those who serve on this committee typically possess interest in (and maybe even have knowledge of) home construction. Surveyors, architects, people familiar with building codes, carpenters, concrete workers, plumbers, electricians, and building supply people make good members. There is a lot to know about building houses. If you have any knowledge at all, OR if you would like some on-the-job training, please join us!
FAMILY SELECTION COMMITTEE -This committee is made up of people willing to seek out, interview, and work with families in need of decent, affordable housing throughout the application process. Committee members also check to make certain that the applicant families meet the criteria for homeownership established by Habitat.
FAMILY SUPPORT COMMITTEE -The members of the Family Support Committee serve as sponsors, advocates, and friends to help our families during and after the construction process with such things as home maintenance, finances, sweat equity requirements, and transition to home ownership. Persons with good "social/people" skills work well on this committee and play an important role in assisting new homeowners.
DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE -This group is responsible for identifying and approaching potential donors (individuals, churches, businesses) for either cash or "in-kind" gifts of materials, labor, real estate or funds. The committee also develops fundraising literature and assists with grant writing. We are continually surprised to find out how eager people are to give when they understand the principles of Habitat!
PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE -The P.R. Committee writes articles for newsletters, public service announcements, press releases, brochures and other marketing materials. It also promotes special events, fundraising and advertising campaigns.
